Germany July 2011 Part Two
After dinner, it was back to the Hauptbahnhof for yet more nightshots, although hampered by my lack of tripod. Happily the combination of a 7D and a 28-70 f2.8 or a 30 f1.4 enables at least a record shot!
Munich Hauptbahnhof 26/07/11
After walking out of the station, I spied an opportunity for a night shot of a tram outside the station, using a railing as an impromptu tripod!
Back to the hotel for more beer, and then bed, with another early start the following day. Naturally it dawned bright and sunny, so back over to Munich Ost on the S-Bahn.
Munich Ost 27/07/11
With Munich Ost dying on it's backside towards mid-morning, I headed back to the Hauptbahnhof, with the intention of getting to Frankfurt by that evening. There then followed a random set of moves to get there, calling in at Stuttgart Airport for a beer and a Global Express frame, and a soaking from the rain. Cheers then!

Upon arrival at Frankfurt, I elected to do some more fotting, this time using my suitcase as an impromptu tripod. Makes it possible to get 1 second exposures at f8 ISO500 or 640. Of note were the amount of beggars on the station from Eastern Europe. Maybe hanging around alone was not my brightest idea!

Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof 27/07/11
Off to the Ibis Hotel in Frankfurt for a beer and a dossout. Naturally the next day dawned cloudy as hell, so it was off to Frankfurt Airport for a day of spotting.

Frankfurt Flughafen 28/07/11
After a day of getting sunburnt on the Terrace at FRA, I headed for Koln.

My hotel for the night was secured via Priceline - the Hotel Leonardo, about 10 mins walk from Buchforst station. I had intended to go back to Koln Hbf for some nightshots, but had an outbreak of couldn't be arsed-ness, which grew worse when I sighted the bar downstairs. So, off for beer and burger, and an excellent night's doss in a nice 3 star hotel for about 40 quid! A corking result!
Of course, July 29th was also gloomy as hell so I headed off to Koln Airport to flukily wag my last two German AF A310s among other bits, prior to returning to central Koln to be a tourist. I did a couple of insect leaps out of abject boredom before heading for Dusseldorf Airport and the flight home on BA A319 G-EUPH.

And so, the end of the trip arrived! I'll sure be heading back to Germany soon, maybe to do some proper linesiding. If only you could guarantee the weather.....
