Germany March 2012
A trip over to Berlin to see some sights and some trains saw some lovely sunshine. In between trips to the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie et al, we got a few shots in and around the general area. Thanks to CJM for the tip on Saarmund.

We flew into Schonefeld on Easyjet and with the sun out spent some time on the end of the platform hoping for some freight. Shame light engines don't count........

With not much happening at Schonefeld, we headed into town to find the hotel (the Ibis on the west end of town near the ICC) and do some sights, before a cracking dinner and then some nightshots at the Hauptbahnhof.

More sightseeing today, with the main target being the Jannowitzbrucke shot before attempting the airport again for freights.

Again, not much was happening, and the freights that did pass were from the wrong direction for the light so we went back into town afterwards for dinner and some nightshots at both Ostbahnhof and the Hauptbahnhof.

Up not so early today, the last day of the trip. It dawned foggy, but once it started to clear, it did so in double quick time, and we headed for Saarmund via the S-Bahn to Schonefeld and an RB for the short hop onwards. Upon arrival, we noticed a random bloke with a cameraon the dirt track a short walk from the station. When more random blokes appeared with cameras, I did wonder what was going on! That question was soon answered when the Raildox.de Ludmilla announced itself by screaming up the hill on the west side of the station. I need a video camera! The light here in summer appears to be good from about 09:30-10:00 for eastbounds, and as the sun moves round, westbounds become possible around 13:30. After a light engine, and a track machine were all that passed in the first hour, I was getting concerned, but the place soon picked up and yielding some pleasing shots in the warm spring sunshine.
